Come into Norbury Wharf’s spacious dry dock and meet Whimbrel – she’s just had her bottom blacked - but she won’t mind if we take a look. Whimbrel is a 50ft narrowboat with a cruiser stern, built by Peter Nichols in 1985 and powered by a BMC 1.5, 4 cylinder engine. She is a go-anywhere boat that will sleep four people and keep them warm and cosy with a Webasto diesel heater and radiators as well as a Squirrel Morso multi fuel stove. Stepping down into the boat from the cruiser stern you first come to the twin bedroom with beds either side. This leads to a separate shower which is alongside the compartment for a cassette toilet. There is also a vanity basin. The galley has a gas oven and separate hob as well as a fridge and plenty of storage space. The gas water heater is here as well. Next to the galley is an L-shaped dining area that also makes up into a double bed. There is a Morso Squirrel multi fuel stove and more seating space between that and the glazed bow doors. The doors lead out onto the bow deck which is protected by a cratch cover. As you can see, Whimbrel has just been blacked and the Boat Safety Certificate is good until 2020.
